At a recent AMITPRO meeting Emma Cockburn of Microsoft was asking me what Microsoft could do to help promote the SBSC badge/brand.

Well one idea could be to sponsor a high profile, televised event like the deal the Microsoft U.S. Small Business team have just put together.

From the MSSmallBiz blog:

This sponsorship, which showcases Microsoft Small Business as well as our Microsoft Small Business Specialist Partners, will hopefully not only raise more awareness of the professional solutions, services and assistance available to small businesses everywhere from Microsoft and its Partners, but it will also provide an opportunity for our Microsoft Small Business Specialist Partners to tap into a marketing venue not seen as financially available to many before.

This is good stuff and we need to see more ideas like it in the UK. Personally I would much rather see Microsoft putting their marketing budget towards this sort of thing than running partner campaigns aimed at helping us sell.

Just to prove that Microsoft DO listen to their partners there have been some major changes to the Action Pack.

Remember the consternation around the removal of OEM software from the Action Pack which meant you had to perform an upgrade? Well that has now gone and the full products are included. so you can do a fresh install on bare metal without having to do the upgrade.

As well as that a whole stack of sales aids and other goodies are going to be included to help you be more proactive when it comes to promoting Vista etc.

Important changes for Action Pack Subscribers regarding Windows Vista provides the full details. Thanks to David Overton for the heads up on this. David has loads more info on the changes in his blog post.
